Eastern Waters, Eastern Winds

One of the joys of sailing and rowing is, arguably, the discussion in the Club bar after a race or event. Ask any two sailors or rowers for an account of the same race and you will most probably be given at least two different versions. After any race, particularly one involving a protest, there will be a variety of versions offered from those concerned. Often accounts of sailing and rowing adventures change and, some might say, improve in the telling and retelling! In researching and writing this book, I have read many words and spoken to many people. Not surprisingly, there have been inconsistencies in both the written and spoken accounts of various happenings and events. However, as "helm", I have had to make my own decisions on the best course to be taken. I trust that when delving into this book, readers will permit themselves, as I have done, to enjoy the fascinating "voyage" which is the history of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.
